The Demise of the Bongs

In a derelict megacity research lane, an abandoned gravity experiment was built to harvest kinetic energy through a relentless double pendulum.

Bio-Organic Newtonian Gatherers (The Bongs) still happily patrol, unaware that their creators have long since moved away from this avenue of research, deeming it an unpopular political advantage, and, of the pendulum’s imminent overload.

An impact with the pendulum reduces the Bongs into chunks, but, if these chunks manage to remain on the charging strip, they sometimes reboot as sentient “survivor” Bongs, eyeing the path and shuffling forward, less efficient but, still dedicated to their futile cause.

You step into VR as an observer, watching the experiment burn in endless motion, witnessing unquestioning devotion, unable to stop the inevitable extinction of this lifeform.
